My mother- in-laws quilt

Ok so I have been working on this quilt forever and thought that it would be fun to do.  It was fun but oh my gosh was it way more work than I bargained for.  It has a ton of hand work and applique on it. All of the lettering was hand done and than all of the pictures had to be sewn around. I was so proud to finally get it done and give it to my mother-in-law for her christmas, birthday, mother's day and than 4th of July quilt. (You see what I mean by working on it for a really long time.) Here's some pictures.

Grape salad

Thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law I have a recipe that Tyler will eat with fruit in it. It is good with any fruit but the recipe calls for grapes. Vanessa, the wonderful sister-in-law, said she put strawberries in it as well so I tried it that way this time and loved it. Ok so enough talking about it and here is the recipe.

1- 8oz tub of cool whip
1- 8oz cream cheese
1 cup of powder sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 lbs of grapes
Mix all together and enjoy!

Living life

I thought that it would be easy keeping up with this blog but boy was I wrong. It was a goal of mine to keep up with life on this so that our family could keep up with us and how Adam is growing and learning so here it goes.

Adam has several new "tricks" as Tyler calls them. He is now rolling from his belly to his back, funny thing though, he does it more at night when he is sleeping which gets him all confused and cries for his binky. (it has been some long nights for me lately)

His next trick is playing with his feet when he is laying on his back, sitting in his bumbo or when we are holding him. He just loves them now that he knows about them. It is just about the cutest thing ever.

The last new trick is he is starting to giggle. Yes I finally made a big enough fool of myself for him to laugh. I loved every second. He is growing so much and I can't believe that it has already been 4 months since he was born. I love watching him grow and learn new things. He is growing so much. We find out how much he weighs on the 19th but I think he is at about 17lbs.

Being a mom is the best thing even when it is hard!

Here's some pictures enjoy. I sure do.

Family Pictures

Thanks to a family friend Chris Gundersen we had family pictures done. She is awesome check out her blog http://gundersenphotography.blogspot.com/ to see more pictures.

Growing Up Fast

It is crazy to think that only 12 weeks ago we were waiting for the newest member of our family.  I am so thankful to have him in our lives because it has not been the same since. I keep looking back on the pictures that we have taken of him and I am amazed at how big he is and how much he has grown.  At his last doctor's appointment he was up to 13 pounds and growing so fast. He now smiles at us when we talk to him which is the best thing in the world.  His newest thing is talking to us when he wants attention.  He makes the cutest sounds and it melts my heart when he interacts with us.  He is so curious about everything and has to make sure he knows what's going on when he is awake. He always has his eyebrows up and a wrinkled forehead, which makes everyone laugh because he looks like an old man.

We have an eventful summer planned for this year. We have traveled to Utah once for Adams blessing and felt so blessed to have so many family and friends to be around us and support us. We also had two baby showers thrown for us and received so many great things. It was so great to be surrounded by everyone that we love.  We are also returning to Utah in August for my sister-in-law, Ashley's wedding.  We are so excited to be able to travel again and see everyone. It will be fun and a busy trip.  Tyler and I will also be staying in a hotel in downtown Cincinnati for our anniversary this week and planning a trip later for Kirtland.  We have some free hotel stays and are taking full advantage of them while we can.

His blessing outfit. He has the cutest booties also but he refused to keep them on while I was taking the pictures.

Alabama

This past week Tyler had to work in Alabama and Adam and I went down with him because of all of the bad luck we have had in the past while he was gone.  It also gave us a chance to see more of this side of the country.  While we were driving down there we drove past a neighborhood that was totally demolished by the tornado that went through in April.  As we drove through the neighborhood I realized how humbling an experience it was and how lucky we were with the things and people we had in our lives.  We drove down one street and there were two piles, one on each side of the street, of what use to be people's houses. I have included some pictures.

While we were there we also go to drive around Huntsville and see the town.  It is very spread out and small.  We drove downtown, which included all of 1 building over two stories and one major park.  We also drove to the space center that they have there.  We saw 2 rockets, space shuttle and rocket booster.  We drove by too late so we didn't get to go in; we also had an unhappy baby so it would not have been very fun.

Also while in Alabama; Adam started to smile when we were talking to him.  It is so fun and exciting to watch him grow and develop new things.

Whirlwind

Since moving to Ohio there has not been a dull moment for us.  We have moved in, started make our house ours with paint and furniture and other personal touches.  Tyler has gone on two business trips with something interesting happening on both of them.  The first gave Tyler a foot fungus or some sort of infection on the bottom of his foot making it hard for him to walk.  On the second trip I was admitted to the hospital because my blood pressure decided to go up.  After about 3 hours they decided to release me and put me on light bed rest and go in for 2 appointments each week, one being an ultrasound and non-stress test and the other appointment being a non-stress test.  This happened about 6 weeks before our little man decided to make his appearance making it the longest 6 weeks of my life.  After Tyler stopped traveling things calmed down a little and we just got to wait for the big day.  After going to some of the last appointments my doctor decided that it would be a good idea to induce me because I was measuring big.  She wanted me to have the baby sooner rather than later because of my high blood pressure.  She also didn't want the little man to get too big because he was estimated at 7lbs 9oz 2 weeks before my due date.
On May 5th Tyler and my life would be changed forever in the best possible way that it could be.  That afternoon we went into the hospital to be induced but would not meet Adam until 9:52 pm on May 6th brought into this world by c-section.  Although it was a long and hard thing to go through I would not change it for anything.  We have since been trying to work on getting use to the new addition in our lives and love every moment of it.  I am also trying to heal and get the energy back that I once hard.  After that the goal is fitting back in the pants I use to wear.  (The goal for every new mom I think! :)
